WRONG!! I'm not going to go into tons of detail b/c I don't want to relive it all again, but Jack got an ear infection right after we got there. I wasn't worried, but it seemed to really be bothering him. Someone told us there was a family clinic right up the road so we thought we would go there for some antibiotics and be on our way.
WRONG AGAIN!! The doctor there thought we needed an ambulance and that Jack had something terribly wrong with his stomach. Anyway, long story short.... we did NOT get an ambulance but we did go to the ER at Children's Hospital. Only five or six hours later, we left with antibiotics for an ear infection. Children's Hospital ER - not what you would think it would be. Several times we wished we were in our little small town hospital if you can believe that.

Doesn't he look so sick here?

Thankfully they had this car for entertainment. Grandaddy rode Jack around several times and many, many other children throughout the night. We knew everyone very well by the time we left. (Hi! to our friend Tag if you're reading)
The story gets much worse, but I'll leave all that out. Jack did start feeling much better and we were able to shop some the next day. However, this little boy let us know very clearly that he was ready to come back HOME!!
Even sick, he's pretty darn cute!
The final verdict: If you get sick in Birmingham on the weekend, drive somewhere else!! A thought while I was in that ER waiting room: This is why I'm soooo again socialized medicine!!!!!! It's available to everybody, but nobody can actually get it!

Sounds like a horrible experience. Maybe I can hear the rest of the story later. Hope he is feeling better.
Awww..Poor Jack! I have to admit the picture of him standing by the door with his backpack on made me laugh. Hope EVERYONE is doing better!
Bless your heart. He does look like he doesn't feel well at all. Aiden doesn't do well with the shopping thing either.
So sorry about your experience. There is nothing worse than a sick baby! Hope everybody is doing better.
I'm sorry you had such a rough time at Children's! My SIL had to take my nephew there once because he stuck a coffee bean up his nose. They also had to wait forever! Hopefully you at least got your shopping done! That is one thing that B'ham is good for-- great shopping!!
Sounds like a not-so-smart doctor, what in the world made him think something was wrong with his stomach? I am sorry it was such a horrible experience in B'ham! I hope Jack's little ear is feeling better! Did you figure out how to do the header for your blog?
Love the picture of him ready to head out of the door. Who can blame him? Hate that he had to endure another ear infection--poor little guy.
I'm looking forward to the retreat!!! Will y'all be at church Friday night to see Fireproof?
WOW!!! Look at how much Jack has changed compared to that picture at the top. For some reason I just really noticed it tonight...cuter by the minute! Glad his ears got to feeling better and that you got your shopping done:)
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience! We have a Children's Hospital here and the wait is always long, but the people are great. We usually make at least one trip to the ER every six months:(
Did you cut more of Jack's hair? It looks a lot shorter in the pictures. He's a doll, sick or not!
Aw. Poor Jack! Glad he's feeling better even through the horrible experience of the Children's Hospital.
Sorry to hear little Jack was sick and you all had to endure that experience!! At least you were smart enough to know what a quack doctor trying to make you take him by ambulance for nothing!! Sometimes, you just have to go with your gut instinct as a mom, obviously you truly KNOW best!! Glad it's over and you got your shopping done!! Jack is just getting more handsome by the day, it does look like he got another hair cut??!! So cute!!
I sure hate to hear you had such an awful time on your trip. Maybe better luck next time! You are such an avid blogger I have a hard time keeping up. Especially since I barely blog once or twice a month! Glad Jack is feeling better now!
